Kitchen Bench
KitchenThe kitchen bench was commissioned to fit a specific space. It covers a low radiator and provides extra seating and storage without taking space away from the room. The bench is made in Scottish Oak with matching shelves above.
Windsor Chair
Dining Room KitchenThis is the classic Windsor chair with curved back and crinoline stretcher. This one has a backs plat that was designed by the client. Very comfortable it is too!
Windsor Chairs
Bedroom KitchenWhile the Windsor chair is a traditional, classic design, each one is slightly different and the ‘unique feature’ in this project was the steam bent arm supports. Quite a nice feature, giving a very elegant curve to the profile of the chair. The project was for a matching pair (so unique design but they did have to match each other!!)
Wood is ash finished in shellac and wax.
Crossover Side Table
Kitchen Living RoomThis started as an experiment with the sabre legs used in previous designs. I reckoned that the legs would look good crossing over in an ‘X’ under the table top. It took a bit of figuring out to avoid the legs clashing but I’m really pleased with the result and think that there is scope for turning this into a dining table or making into a glass top table.

KitchenInstalling a completely new bespoke kitchen involves many more trades than furniture making but the focus of this project was to replace doors, drawer fronts and other facing components with new ones.
The work is in ash using recessed panels inlaid with rosewood. The recessed handles are very functional and for a wood as fantastically grained as this, using conventional handles would detract from the look.
Bread Boards
Kitchen Smaller ThingsI hadn’t seen this idea before but managed to get two commissions to make crumb catching bread boards in the same week. I believe the idea originates from Germany/Austria and is incredibly clever. The breadboard has a removable slotted top with a recess below to catch crumbs as you cut bread. I made 3 – one each in ash, elm and oak and finished them in food safe mineral oil.
Kitchen Dresser
KitchenThis was a rather large scale project, the remit for this project was to create a feature piece that was also functional storage for a kitchen/dining area. The traditional dresser is a great design and this was designed to be a slightly more contemporary dresser to fit into a modern house. The dresser is solid Scottish oak throughout, hand crafted recessed handles are used on doors and drawers and recessed LED lighting is used to highlight the contents of the display case.
A lot of wood and a lot of work, but delighted with the result.
